Our Health Workforce plays a crucial role in delivering health services to both individuals and communities. We want to ensure our workforce is supported and maintained to meet the growing healthcare needs of a steadily increasing and ageing population.
To assist, the department is developing complex supply and demand models to identify workforce trends including oversupply and shortages across specific professions and geographical areas.
By understanding the size, composition, and distribution of our workforce, we can ensure we have the right number of health professionals to meet future needs.
To date we have released supply and demand models for the Nursing and General Practitioner (GP) workforces, with modelling for other professions to follow.
