Medical Training Review Panel (MTRP) Data Collection

With the functions of the Medical Training Review Panel (MTRP) report being absorbed by National Medical Training Advisory Network (NMTAN) in early 2017, NMTAN agreed to release medical education and training (MET) data similar to that published in previous MTRP reports.

Currently the Health Workforce Data Tool does not contain the historical MTRP data. The MTRP reports can be found at https://www.health.gov.au/internet/main/publishing.nsf/Content/work-pubs-mtrp

These historical reports provided a detailed analysis of the changes taking place in undergraduate, postgraduate, and vocational training in Australia.

Data in the reports were supplied by

• Medical Deans Australia and New Zealand Inc
• state and territory health departments
• specialist medical colleges
• the Australian Medical Council and
• the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency

Selected administrative data from the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection and this Department have also been included.
