Method papers for counting General Practitioners delivering primary care services

The Department of Health and Aged Care uses data methods specific to health workforce planning activities to count general practitioners and calculate their work effort providing primary care services. The methods provide a unique count of General Practitioners (Number of GPs), workload estimates e.g. Full Time Equivalent (FTE) and the type and volume of primary care services being provided (Number of Services by GPs). The methods were first introduced in 2019 and are used for all reporting on GPs delivering primary care services.
